What type of valve spring compressors is everybody using?
Just like the title says. What kind are you using? How much did you pay and where did you get it?
I have used mostly the impact type spring installation tools once the head has been removed from the vehicle. I need to do a couple of cars where the owner doesnt want to remove the head. I know I need to compress air into the cylinder and use the tool to remove the keepers, springs, etc.
Any feedback is greatly appreciated.

If I remember correctly it was about $300 plus $30-40 for the Honda adapters. The Goodson is about $1K but it is lightweight billet construction with a foot-pedal option...

here's two that I've had to make to get install the stiffest springs in the world, EF1's. This one is for when they're in the head, it requires three people, one to lean on each end of an extension bar and push, the other to put the keepers in. Anyone that's had to do the EF1's knows what i'm talking about!!!
and this is one I made the other day! best tool i've made yet. It's a one man tool, even w/ the EF1's!!! I was actually surprised at how easy it is to do. The last pic i took while pushing with one hand and taking the pic w/ the other! granted they are stock springs here but even the ef1's can be done by a single man!!!

you should get some of those made, or get some drawing done and sell them to people! i was actually looking at the ef1's springs and retainers, and saw the picture of them next to the skunk2's and the stock ones and wondered how the hell i was going to compress those

I thought about making a few, just the metal parts that could be bolted down or clamped down to any work bench or piece of wood. Maybe this weekend if i'm bored. whos down!

i know you guys like to have the right tool for the job.but i made my own
and it only cost me a old spark plug socket i had and a extension.i cut a section out of the socket and welded a extension on it and put a pistol like grip handle on it.but here is the trick.put the valve locks in the retainer first put it down on the spring, now put the tool down on the spring, next put your finger over the valve locks and press down.don't force them with your finger just let them slide in,but keep your finger over them just so they don't pop out.then when they lock, tap them on top just tomake sure they are locked in.I HAVN'T FOUND A SET I CAIN'T PUT IN YET.now i have had some that were a bitch but i can put 16 in around 30 min or less.if i knew how to down load the pic i would be glad to post it.
THE ONLY THING REQUIRED IS A LITTLE STRENGHT.

Just curious if you've tried EF1 springs yet??? If not, there is your enemy! I've personally done Crowers, Skunks, Type R, and Portflows all w/ just a simple pushing tool. That Is nearly impossible to do w/ the ef1's. Not joking at all man! They are insane!
