Default what type of motor is in the new hatchback si??

hey whats up guys just a few quick questions. I tried searching but came up with no answers. What type of motor does the new hatchback si civic come with? are they good? recommeneded? Alot of B series parts are interchangeable, are there any parts that can be swapped into this new SI motor?? like parts from RSX type R or something? like cams and stuff? I am selling my 92 gsr and am thinking of getting an RSX or new SI and want to know if I get an SI what types of upgrades can I go with? Can I use any RSX parts or TSX parts to make it quicker? Or am I stuck going with only aftermarket parts? I pretty much only know about B series motors and am not to familiar with the new K series motors at all. I have a bunch of ITR parts on my b17 and am wanting to know if I could do the same with this motor? Whats the difference between the SI K20 and the RSX type s and RSX base model K20? what car comes with a K24? Does VTEC engage on these motors the same way as my B series VTEC? Any help is always appreciated

you seriously couldnt find any info on this?

civic si and rsx base have the same motor, 160hp

rsx type s has 200hp

the major difference between the two is the way i-vtec is implemented. the type s k20 has "real" vtec where as the other k20 does not. you shouldnt have any problem finding more detailed info in the dc5/ep3 forum. the k24 comes on the tsx (and accord i believe). i'm pretty sure the k24 has the real vtec system similar to the type s k20.

Explain this "real vtec," chief.

a simple search will answer that question jackass... the vtec on the si k20 and the rsx type s k20 work very differently... one is more enomony oriented where as the other is more performance oriented. i believe the si only affects intake valves while the type s affects both intake and exhaust. also i believe the type s has 3 lobes where as the si only has 2.

i am not an expert on it, my point was there are differences which is what results in the horsepower difference. i couldnt even remember the exact engine codes of the top of my head, hence refering to them as si k20 and type s k20.

most ppl would have flamed him and said "GO SEARCH"... i actually tried to help, so f*** u *******.

Settle down there killer, I'm just hate seeing people given the wrong information by a douchebag that has no clue what he's taking about. "Real VTEC" being that under this instance. cheers

"A higher redline, tougher engine components, a six-speed racing-inspired manual transmission, larger front brakes, and a firmer suspension all help ensure that this precision-crafted sports coupe is as well-rounded as it is extreme."

"The RSX Type-S gets its higher output and torque from i-VTEC, the latest generation of Acura's Variable Valve Timing and Lift Electronic Control (VTEC™), which makes its debut in the RSX. As in the 160-hp RSX, the Type-S i-VTEC system uses Variable Timing Control (VTC) to adjust the phase of the intake camshaft, advancing or retarding cam timing, to keep power output smooth across the rpm spectrum.

In the Type-S, an exclusive 3-rocker-arm design for both intake and exhaust valves replaces the 2-rocker intake-only design of the 160-hp RSX, and helps you get incredible low-end torque and high-end power. With the aid of VTC, i-VTEC also makes the RSX Type-S respond quickly, while improving fuel economy and reducing exhaust emissions. "
