what does the vacuum system provide the engine?
I obviously have a lot to learn about some of the components of the internal combustion engine...
What the do the vacuum lines do? Multiple tasks across many components, I'm assuming, since so many different valves/components have vacuum lines running to them.

well the motor pulls a vac. on
-the fuel pressure regulator
-brake booster
-egr(exaust gas recirculator)
-charcoal canister(pulls fumes from the gas tank into combustion chamber)
-pcv valve(pulls pressure from the crank case to keep from blowing piston rings etc....)
-and many other things depending on what car you have and what motor it has.
