oem y8 head o2 bung is stripped slightly
what should I do?


1) jb weld the o2 sensor in the hole?

2) try to tap it
......a) if I do that does the header have to be taken off?
......b) how much pressure is applied to the tapper to make it thread?

 

They make a 02 thread chaser. I would give that a shot.. You should be able to fix it .

 

if its beyond repair, just stuff a plug in it and weld it in....then drill a hole an inch or 2 further down and weld another bung in

 

for the o2 chaser.... where can i buy it?
also to use it, does the manifold have to be off the car?

 

The have them at autozone.. Also know as a spark plug thread chaser .. (same threads)

you dont have to take the manifold off... its just exhaust right.

 

You just need Lisle part number 12230, Oxygen Sensor Thread Chaser.

You could also use the combination oxygen sensor / spark plug chaser, Lisle #20200. You can get that at amazon for five bucks and change.

 

Since it already stripped I say lay it down and give it some good lovin...dont forget lube

 

you need a 18 by 1.5 tap
