what could this part be?

it would be that little blue circle thing with gold square in the middle and the rivets around it. ive seen them on other cars but just dont know what it could be. just wanted to know on what the real name is for this part and what it does. any help would be cool. thanx

It's an FMU, a Fuel Management Unit. It's used on boosted applications. It is designed to raise fuel pressure, as the pressure in your intake manifold increases due to the boost from the turbo/supercharger. They have different fuel ratios. 8:1, 10:1, 12:1 etc... For example if you have a 10:1 FMU, it increases fuel pressure by 10psi for each pound of boost. 12:1 is pretty much the standard though.
