Default what brand of oil

I have a 99 civic EX, I have 104K miles on it. I wanted to know what is better when changing the motor oil, when the motor is hot or cold? Also what is a good non-syn oil to use,

I use cheap oil and change it when it begins to change colors. Usually about every 900 to 1100 miles.

Just because your oil changes color, doesn't mean that it needs changing. If you're doing 1000 mile OCI's then all you're doing is wasting money. I've run dino oil 4k + miles and my used oil analysis has shown that the oil was fine.

To the original poster, my favorite dino oil is Chevron Supreme. Not only is it cheap, but it also contains a very good additive package.

It is best to change your oil once the car has been run for about 3-5 minutes. This will allow the oil to heat up and allow any debris to be recirculated into the pan and drain out instead of being stuck in the oil passages.
