what alternator do i need? my car is a 98 civic si with a b18c (jdm engine) in it.
So I have a 98 civic si, it has a swapped b18c engine in it, i need to buy an alternator for the car but i dont know what to order, do all b series alternators work? is there a difference in obd 1 and obd 2? if so how do i tell what i have? Is there a difference in regular integra alternators than a b18c engine?
sorry for the stupid question guys Ive just never had a swapped jdm enigne before and if im spending $200 on an alternator i wanna make sure i get the right one..

Purchase a GSR alternator for the OBD version of the car, so OBD2. Need to match the stock wiring harness..

You need an alternator from a '99 - '00 SiR if you want it to plug right in and work.
'96 - '00 Canadian Civcs don't have an ELD! this is important. Because of this Canadian Civics use a 3 wire alternator, USDM and JDM use a 4 wire connector due to the ELD. That said look at the green alternator plug and see what was used when the swap was done. 3 wire oval plug is Canadian OBD2 Civic SiR, 4 wire square plug is OBD2 Integra, 4 wire round is OBD1. Order your alternator based on that.

my car was swapped before i bought it, im not sure if they changed the wiring harness to the alternator or not, my car was the base si with a sohc engine in it before, so they must of changed it, im gonna remove the alternator and post a pic of the plug and see if anyone can tell me if its the integra alternator or civic one.

No need for the pics, just follow what 94EG8 stated.
I didn't notice yours was a Canadian version, 94EG8 provided all the info needed.
