Default Well... I have some issues.

I have a 5-speed '95 civic VX hatch with a non-vtec d15. When I got it the SRS and CEL were both on but were ignored as It ran great and it's a winter beater. Well it's been getting colder around here and last Friday instead of starting right up as soon as the motor turned over like it always did (even when cold) it took a second or two to start. Turns over great, just didn't fire. Only thing I've changed is an intake to replace the trash one that was in there. Since Friday it's taken longer and longer to start until it seems it's stopped getting longer and is staying at a solid 6 seconds to fire. I checked the codes today and I'm getting code 19 and 41. 19 is for an automatic transmission lock up control valve and 41 is for an o2 sensor heating element. I have neither of these in my car. My ecu isn't really mounted to anything either, it's just kind of chilling under the passenger side carpet against the firewall area. Can these codes just be ignored and I'm looking for a vacuum line, or? Any ideas are greatly appreciated.

Thanks,
Chase

so you also have the wrong ecu. is the car even wired for a 4 wire o2? why are you not running an o2 sensor?

I'm running an o2 sensor, but its just a single wire with no heating element. I'm thinking the starting issue may be the fuel pump as it seems to take about the same amount of turns to start. It doesn't seem to make a difference if you turn the key all the way on and let it sit a second before turning it over and it doesn't make a difference if you turn it over for half a second then hit the starter again, it takes the same amounts of turns to start it no matter how they're spaced out (if that makes any sense). I replaced the intake and the old one was trash but they're weren't any vacuum lines going to it so I just assumed there weren't supposed to be, is this true? Not sure if it's related but buddies who drive behind me always say that it definitely smells coming off the line. They say it smells rich but I don't know how much I'd trust them on that part, just that it smells a bit.

Thanks,
Chase

Are you sure it's the wrong o2 sensor? The motor is definitely wired for a one wire sensor. The ecu is from a d15b7 (or so it says when I look up the bar code on o'reily's site) would that cause any running issues or just codes? I don't mind the cel being on. Also my Evap solenoid that's mounted on the firewall is connected electrically but both vacuum lines too it are cut. I can't imagine the Evap would do anything running wise? Also I noticed today that if I let it sit in neutral for more than 10-20 second with the clutch out it starts to idle surge (I call it searching from working on generators) from 800 to roughly 1700 rpm pretty steadily until I hit the gas or clutch. Any ideas on this? It really doesn't bother me but maybe it's connected with the starting issue?

Thanks,
Chase

yes an ecu from a d15b7 will cause running issues with your engine, especially considering it's looking for a heated 4-wire o2 sensor.

Great.... Well looks like I'm on the hunt for a new ecu.

Thanks,
