Default weird noise. possibly the diff???

Well I have a 2001 integra type R. the car and transmission only have 40,000 miles on them (motor has only 2000, just rebuilt). car started making a clicking noise, that progressively worsened rather quickly. drivers side wheel bearing had a little play so i replaced it and that didn't solve the problem. axle looked good, but i replaced that with a brand new one, and that did not solve the problem.

definately not the motor, because the noise still persists when i shut the motor off, and let the car free wheel. Sounds like it is coming from the left side of the car but it is hard to tell.

does anyone have any way i can distinguish whether it is the differential or something else, or any other possibilities.

thanks in advance

put the car properly on jack stands and run it...while under the vehicle listen for the noise with a mechanics stethoscope or pry bar...then get back to us
