Wanted a gsr now i got a ls tranny what should i do??
Well long story short i went to buy a gsr lsd tranny and when i split it open its a ls with b16 lsd. Im doing a H2b and it will be my daily driver. I do how ever want to get the most out of the car in the 1/4 mile. It will just have the bolt ons for now though. So my question is what should i do with the tranny? Should i sell it and try to find a gsr one. Or should i put a b16 3rd and 4th gear set in and make it almost identical to a gsr? Im new to hondas so im not sure if swapping gears is a problem or what?

Re: Wanted a gsr now i got a ls tranny what should i do?? (KENetics1)
I paid $600 which would have been a good deal if it was a gsr tranny. Even if i get my money back which tranny should i get for my h22? Wouldnt a ITR tranny be too short of gears? I would think the h22 had more then enough power to pull through some longer gears. How could i figure out what rpms i would be at when i shift gears? Someone please help me with this gearing stuff i know nothing about

if it has a 4.40 final drive in it, it is quite close to gsr spec with tad longer 3, 4, and 5 ratios. if the ring has 66 teeth, you are in better luck than if it had stock LS 4.26 final drive. if it has 64 teeth on it, you have the LS final. both countershaft pinions have 15 teeth...you must id according to the slashes cut on the ends of the teeth (4.26 there are 2, 4.40 there are 3) i say just put a 4.40 ring and pinion and leave the other gears alone. you'll have to change out the 3/4 sleeve and hub and fork if you want to run vtec 3 and/or 4th gears.

Re: Wanted a gsr now i got a ls tranny what should i do?? (not so civic)
It is completely ls so yeas ls final drive. Also my transmission guy tells me that since it has the b16 lsd that i can only use the ls final drive in it. Can anyont confirm this? Like you said it would be way easier to just swap out the final but i was told i could not do that. Also is there anything that makes a ls tranny weaker then a gsr?

use a b16 ring gear and vtec b-series countershaft. i have a setup for sale if you are interested in converting. just pm me. and it's a direct swap and ignore what you've heard about 'only ls' fit etc. ls/non vtec trans has single cone friction cone on 2nd gear unlike vtec with the dual friction cone (x2 the stopping surface=good)...ls/non vtec 3rd and 4th friction cone is tad smaller than vtec's 3rd and 4th hence why you need a bigger fork and hub/sleeve if you run that set. other than that ls diff is same size as b16 which is a tad less beefy than the gsr diff.
