Default Vtec problems in a H22 EK

Hi...
I have a jdm h22 motor in a 97 CX and i've been having weird problems with the Vtec ever since the swap.
Everytime i turn the car on there is no vtec as long as the car is "cold"... once the temperature gauge gets high(first line) i have to cut the car off and back on then MAGIC.. Vtec is there.

please help me figure this out guys..

Thank you
P.S the ecu is a stock JDM h22 ecu.. obd1

Have you tried another puter? That is the only thing that controls it. any aftermarket chips?

Coolant temperature needs to be at a specific point before it will engage, it will not engage cold, unless you have a chip that turns it on at a specific point all the time.

understandable, but the thing that gets me is that it won't come on by ITSELF when the car is warm, i have to switch the car off then back ON in order to get it to work.... i have a P28 and Hondata stage 2 but i haven't had time to put that in and go tune the car... because i know with that setup i can bypass all the VTEC bullshit...

so nothing else you could think of that might be behind this?... i never had to do that when i had a JDM h22 in my prelude...

thanks for the input guys...
