Default vtec problem.

I own a 91 Integra gs. with a few problems. The guy I bought it from did a JDM b16 swap but totally messed it up. Im about 90 percent he left the origional harness in the car which is obd0 before 92 and i looked up the ecu (pr3 J00) which is obd1 so pretty much everything is messed. My main problem is the vtec has stopped engaging. Its extremley noticable. No loud crossover or power gain. I checked to see if any wires were loose from the ecu. which one was. I am sure this is a vtec wire because the guy who did the swap but the vtec wires under a fender and around the firewall. I followed this wire and it went to nothing. I have not unpluged anything and there is no receiving wires. I know this is confuzing but does anyone have any idea.

Why is it that when there is crappy wiring done on an engine swap, people are most concerned about VTEC? VTEC would be the least of my worries. I'd start from scratch and check the entire wiring. Who cares if the VTEC isn't working if you have the other sensors hooked up incorrectly costing you power/efficiency/reliability. Also, if VTEC isn't wired, you should be throwing a CEL. If not, then maybe you have the wrong ECU or something worse.

But to get right to the problem and not make this your typical HT post... go right to the solenoid. If it's a JDM motor, the solenoid will have one wire connection that needs to go to two pins on the USDM ECU.

I'm sorry I just took a second look at your post and realized you were talking about the ECU side. When you said fender I was thinking of the solenoid side.

Go into the FAQs ie in the 92-00 Civic section and look for ECU pinouts. Find the two VTEC pins and connect the wire to them both. You could also just look for a swap guide.

the car actually runs great. I had it checked out when the vtec was still working and I was told beside being wired wierdly that everything was working good. She pulled pretty hard in the vtec too. Im only concerned with vtec at the moment because im trying to sell the car. I need the vtec to work almost as a selling point since everything is pretty much stock.

There is thee wires coming from the solenoid. A ground wire that goes to the ground + terminal on the battery and 2 more that go to the ecu. all connected as was when the vtec was working. Im beginning to think hardware problem?
