vtec prob need help bad
hi i did a h22a into a 92 civic hatch. i am not getting vtec. i am pulling 2 codes. one is the knock sensor(23) and the other is the o2 sensor(41). my knock sensor is broken and the o2 is not hooked up. but i should still be getting vtec. what happens is, is that when the car is just started up and is cold it runs vtec. when it warms up to normal temps or if u drive it for more than 15 min the vtec stops running and i notice a big change in the performance. also i am not hitting rev limiter early and i have enough oil in the car. the oil is a little above the second dot on the stick. i don't know what the prob is if someone can help it would be great thanks
From what I have heard the ECU will not allow VTEC without a working Knock sensor.
oh ok well usually when your motor warms up your oil pressure goes down. maybe you have too low oil pressure at normal temp that's why your getting vtec when cold but not when hot. what year is this motor?

for the knock sensor and o2 codes -- get your P13 chipped to the Spoon Specs (which is like $30-$60) this disables most sensors, if not all. and you won't be throwing any codes
for VTEC you probably don't have it wired up right. I also have wiring charts for that specifically on what pin-outs it goes to as well, and you can check direct connections to the ECU.
just let me know.

what I don't get is VTEC doesn't usually when oil temp/engine temp is cold and how yours is engaging when cold and NOT when it's at normal temp. you are sure they are on the right pin-outs correct?
make sure the oil pressure sensor is grounded and tied to the D6 terminal (blue/black wire at the firewall and leads to an orange/blue wire at the ECU connector which goes to D6.
also make sure the spool solenoid valve is connected to the Green/Yellow wire at the firewall leading to a orange/white stripe at the ECU connector harness, i believe.
