knock sensor

if my knock sensor is busted will my vtec work. i found out my sensor was broken and mabe thats why my vtec is not opening

I have an EX ECU on my D16Y7 w/D16Y8 head. There is no knock sensor at all, so obviously it's not hooked up, and VTEC works fine. Of course I haven't heard it at all since I put the turbo on...

YES, vtec WILL work if you don't have your KS hooked up. it's not one of the vital components in making vtec work. although these components or sensors are:

VSS
VTEC pressure switch
VTEC solenoid
Coolant temp

...btw, you car has to be up to normal operating tempature & above approx. 30-40mph in order for vtec to kick on.
