Vtec overrated?
Some Honda drivers put too much emphasis on Vtec. ie "I was losin but smoked his *** when my vtec kicked in." Jeez, they act like variable valve timing is only available to Honda.
u don't hear a Toyota driver saying "I wupped his *** when my vvt-i kicked in."

when vtec engages there is a ''jump'' on torque...
we know that there is other and even better forms of variable valve lift and on newer honda motors cam timing...
get your facts straight....
the good thing is that you can combine 2 different cam profiles....not MAdZ VtEC Yo

I have heard ser drivers say cvtc even though it only adjust timming. Most of the other forms of vtec from other manufactures only control timming not all have the 3rd lob on the cam like Honda. I don't think vtec is overrated It has helped me win some races after a bad start

I heard A If you put the 2 together you get much more of a car.. b18a1 with b18c1 head(vtec) get more power?? And also off of the start & Drag racing i've heard that Non-vtec is the way to go.. ??
Ive just been wondering because a bunch of my honda Friends said i should do a Ls/Vtec Conver. And i thought maybe it would be a good idea

dooooooooooooood i think this guy has never riden in a light car with a dope vtec swap...on a stock car you cant really feel it all that much but in my eg with a h23 vtec ...danm this hits soooooo hard man....overated oooonnnnooooo not at all.
ive also ridden in hatches with b series all worked up and damn the wheels even chirp when it hits..... im pissed...........someone take this guy for a ride

if the wheels are chirping when vtec crosses over then their car is tuned like crap
you are not supposed to feel it, it is supposed to pull nice and smooth throught the power band not all jerky
you are not supposed to feel it, it is supposed to pull nice and smooth throught the power band not all jerky
You can also put crazy cams in a non-vtec motor and it'll be just as fast, just not as comfy...
Pretty overrated, but good for what it's supposed to do.

cant see it in the dyno sheets but you can shure as hell hear it. It frightens sunday drivers and leaves them in a seat full of ****. vetec aint over rated its cool as straight pipes on a big block

you have absolutely no clue what the hell you are talking about. Neither do you forced00si, it does not take "hours" to tune a VTEC engine to have a smooth power band. All you need to know how to do is adjust fuel pressure and timing and to be able to tune with a tuning device (such as VAFC, Power FC, AEM EMS, Fields VAFC, etc) to set the VTEC crossover at the exact point needed and to get the fuel maps to be within a certain Air Fuel Raio. If you know what you are doing, it should not take any longer than an hour to tune properly....at most.
That is the whole point of tuning, to get optimized performance out of your engine. By having the crossover so high that you can actually feel it kick in or see it on the dyno chart shows how horrible of a tuner you are. Please feed your horse **** to your local rice crowd and quit making people read misinformation.

cool thanks, I ask because i have my ls block at my cousins house trying to get it ready to put in my 92 hatch. Since it's out I wasnt too sure to get the ctr pistons put in. I think im staying with the stock LS pistons. I plan to autox this car a lot.
