if you have a jdm vtec solenoid with a usdm ecu your vtec wont engage..
its a good place to start problem solving.... later on

its a 00 si head usdm and a 99 dizzy and vtec solinoid

Im pritty shure it is built right sence i did it my self and this is not the first motor I have put together. mabey I cant feel the vtec working sence It is lower than a stock vtec cars compression and the 00si cams are pritty week? but you deffently can not hear or feel vtec kick in. im running 9:1je pistons, 00si cams with rev valve train, every bolt ARP(rod, head, mains) shot-peen rods, itr oil and water pumps, everything balaced,etc......I though that if vtec dont cross over the ecu will not let you rev past 7200?

check that ur oil level is good...

make sure all your **** is @ operating temp when u try to hit vtec...

maybe it is the js racing chip. when is the vtec crossover supposed to take place? vtec is pretty damn noticeable with intake and especially exhaust

also check all the harness wiring peter kim did for you

pop the solenoid off n make sure that the screen isnt clogged. Also whats ur oil psi at? make sure when u wired vtec up its at the right jumpers at the ecu and make sure you made a ground for it.

ya the vtec is pluged in right, I know this because when I un-plug the vtec solinoid plug it throws a code22 witch is a problem with the vtec solinoid. As for the head being stripped I have no clue, I bought it off a guy on the parts trader for 450shipped and he told me he would put it back together and ship it out. when i got it everything was bolt was loose witch was expected. BUT I did have the machine shop do a leak down on it to make shure there was no cracks or what not they also did my valve job and re-surficeing.

I have tried 3 diffrent ground locations with no luck and I put a brand new screen in when I put the motor together 1200miles ago.

oh for oil pressure I dont have the gauge to test it but it should ok right? im runng the rsx filter with the golden eagle lsVtec kit.

BUT BUT BUT the oil pressure thing could be a problem because like I said before the obd2-obd1 harness was wired wrong. I for got the exact pin locations but pritty much when I pinned in the oil presure switch to the obd2 harness I noteced that the harness dident not got to the oil presure obd1 pinout. Out of the hole harness just the oil presure wire was switched with one other wire but that has bin fixed now.

this is my 99ls witch was turbo and I poped the head gasket and rings (12psi on stock injectors w/fmu did in nicely) so I rebult it with with the pistons and b16 head broke it in on the stock obd1 Ls ecu. now I just got my p28 chipped with the J's chip and vtec wont work. and yes the speedo works mabey because the cluster? JDM gsr?

no cluster wont make it not work......umm.....id check for oil pressure im using a oil sandwhich and its working fine. run the wires from the pressure switch and solenoid directly to the obd1 side of the harness and make sure they are in the right pins...try it like that n see if it works. or try a obd2 vtec ecu n see if that works

K right now my car is getting repainted so I gotta wait a week or so I will try to pin it straight into the ecu and I guess I got to buy the oil presure gauge. If I get a greedy oil pressure meter will it read the same as the ones where u take out the sensor and read it form there? im runnny no knock sensor so im not shure if any vtec ecu will work.

if u run the gsr ull throw a knock sensor code but vtec should still work. also i heard of people hooking up the gaauge to where u ran th line to the head so u know what the oil psi is there. but im not positive.

rev the engine to 3k rpms; hard wire the vtec solenoid while you check oil pressure to the vtec oil pressure port right by the sol.

edit: forgot; it should be 50+ psi at the port

if you mean hook a switch up to the vtec wire not to the ecu. if so I will try it when I get my car back if it ever stops raining in san diego.
