vtec not crossing over
was drivin my car to work the other day, and i noticed that when i got to about 4400-4500 rpms vtec wasn't crossing over....i've been having issues with my IAC/vaccum leak...haven't quite figured it out, i'm stuck on whats causing this...i'm throwing a CEL, but it could be multiple things that have been going on with the car...i have a 92 civic swapped with a 99 b18c1...converted to OBD1

And why would this be any worse than any other motor? A half-quart, although not good, is not "crazy as hell" bad.
And if your check engine is on, vtec won't engage in most all cases.

Not really true. I've got a CEL for catalyst efficiency low, and VTEC works fine.
