vtec engine balancing
i am replacing my rods and pistons(already balanced) in my type-r and have heard that the crank doesnt need to be balanced because it is so close from the factory. only the ls cranks need to be balanced because they were not intended for as high rpms. what is everybody elses thoughts on this.
I was wondering the same thing i'm also rebuilding my type r with wiseco pistons and eagle h beam rods and was wondering if i needed to balcnce every thing. Or if the pistons and rods should come balanced.
Anyone?

depending on whos pistons and rods you buy they come roughly balanced from the manufacturing line...certain aftermarket pistons are usually within 0.5 grams of each other which is considered drop in installation by some...balancing your internals is as important as selecting oil clearances for bearings, and having the right torques everything needs to weigh the same when you spin that bitch to 8000 rpm...you dont want certain piston and rod pairs weighing more than others bad news for crankshaft journals have to always watch out for those engine harmonics...my 2 cents...
