Default VTEC engagement point

I am in the process of building an LS/VTEC in a 93 VX and have P28 ecu for it. I was wondering what would be the best VTEC point to be reprogrammed into the ecu. I have seen as low as 4800rpm. What would be the best point for most power without loosing bottom end. Thanks in advance for any help.

Hmmmm, don't know P28 specifically, but we have run a PR3 with VTEC x-over @ 5000 to good effect on LS/VTEC....

Basic Mugen clone for PR3 at least with 4400 VTEC x-over.

It is hard to tell until you have the motor on a dyno. If you are gonna get the ecu chipped before you finish your motor, i would get vtec set at 5-5.7k range. People with ls-vtec around me are running vtec in that range, and it feels good, but not dyno proven. Just get it set to a rough number and save up for a vafc and then fine tune it.

a dyno is a must... the dyno proved that a low VTEC threshold on my motor yielded the best power contrary to the tuner's expectations...

best bet would be to get on a dyno and change it around to see where it is best for your individual setup!
