Default vtec dependancies???

i know vtec requires many things such as speed, oil pressure, temp etc...

i know all the wires has to be there for the ecu for vtec... there are only certain ones that use the butterflies on the ecu like like h22 and gsr's. and i noticed that the IAB and the evap purge sol. should be wired.

but if they arent and the vtec sol. is hooked up straight to a 12 volt source. does it matter about the other things still for it to work? ex:if i had no vss but i still hard wired vtec to a 12v volt source will it still work (at the right rpm range of course)?

Yes, if you apply 12v to the vtec solenoid, it will open. The sensors go to the computer, which opens vtec at its descrecion. btw, it's pretty good at it, and it's best to leave it to the computer. I know sometimes it's not really an option.

you activating vtec manually wont do anything but hurt things.
when the ecu switches cam profiles it also switches fuel and timing maps.

i dont want to activate it at anytime... i know it needs fuel and different timing.

i was wondering this so i can troubleshoot my vtec problem.

even maually my vtec will not work. i was wondering if the other things that it depends on dont work, will it still work manually

If it doesn't click when you manually give it 12v, the vtec solenoid is probably bad.
