don't think so

if you get an MSD RPM activated switch and hook it to the VTEC solenoid it will work, but that's not the best idea and you should just get another P28

That doesn't work either. The high lift cam profile will engage and it will sound like vtec is working, but without a vtec ecu the fuel and timing maps don't change, so you wont be making any more power.

Ah, that makes sense.

I've seen it before, which is why I mentioned it and thought it worked, but the guy who had it must have just thought VTEC was working due to the sound, when it in fact wasn't working, like you explained.

It should work. Vtec will engage but no fuel will be added to match. I used a ls non-vtec ecu with my ls-vtec. It worked but the fuel was not correct for the high cam change. If you use a apexi vafc-II controller you can actually adjust the fuel. Thats what I had, so I actually changed the fuel. Thats what I did before I got a gsr vtec ecu. So that might work. Or you can spend $135-$150 on a P28 ECU.

just buy a p28 it will a lot easier than dealing with a vafc you wont have to mess with the fuel or wiring just plug and play.
