Default Vtec check engine code

I have a 92 Civic si with a B18c1 in it and lately when I hit vtec, my check engine light comes on. Its not always, if I just mildly accelerate and hit vtec it wont throw a code but if I bang a gear and it gets into high rpms, around 7 or 8 grand the light comes on and it disengages vtec. Any ideas as to what my problem is?

what code is it throwing?kind of important to know that part, could be knock sensor, could be oil pressure switch, maybe VTEC solenoid.

try cleaning the screen on the sylenoid with carb spray, if it don't work, jump 12 volts to it, it may be getting stuck

Ill have to look at the screen, I already am getting 12 volts, I have a msd applicator. One other thing Ive noticed lately which seems to be a bad sign is when I initially hit vtec, ive notice a big puff of blue smoke which would lead me to believe that either my valve seals are shot or bad rings.......however i did a compression test a few weeks ago and compression was around 240 on all cylinders(Type R Internals). I find it very strange that if I was burning oil it only seems to be in vtec........ideas????
