Default Vibration after re-packing cv boot?

Hey guys, I had my outer cv boot clamp fall off and my passenger side axle **** grease all over my wheel. So... I was told that I could probably replace the clamp with the axle still in the hub, just repack it and put the clamp on. So... that's what I did. Pretty much a day later, I noticed vibration coming from that side, not noticable at first but it got really rough between 30-40 mph, then it subsides when I get around 50+. Is the axle bad now or something? It recently happend and I didn't really drive until I replaced the boot clamp. Also when I repacked the joint I used synthetic grease, would that have anything to do with it?

Thanks in advance

Also wanted to say that since the shaking, I tried rotating my tires (Need new tires soon) and got the same results.

are all the bolts torqued properly in the a-arms and the suspension?
maybe an alignment issue?

They've been fine since I did my engine rebuild, only since the repacking of the boot has this started. As far as alignment, it doesn't pull to the left or right... but I havent had it re-aligned since my engine rebuild I completed about a month ago.

I'm thinking maybe a ball joint or something else in your suspension. Make sure everything is tight enough.

I'll check the ball joints, they could have progressively gotten loose. But you know, sometimes it is really rough, sometimes I can barely feel it. But more rough than not lately.

Where did you buy the syn. grease? Autozone?

Some grease cannot be mixed together and if you do, the grease will break down and your cv joint will lose protection.

I washed mine out before I repack with new grease.

found the problem... loose axle nut, despite the fact I used a punch to dent it, the dented area broke and was progressively loosening. Also, started noticing it was vibrating more on the driver side, and lo and behold, the driverside was the loose one. Rides fine now! Thanks guys!

That axle nut holds a preload on the bearing. While you were driving without that preload it may have started some damage to the bearing.

Will do. I only drove on it twice to try and figure out where the sound was coming from, but since I tightened it I'm not getting any problems so far.
