thought , cept non Vtech motor the valves are self adjusting?..but it could be a lean burn that would give u that tapping sound...might try a higer octane fuel..i prefer Shell cuz its 92 vs others @ 91..but if ur using regular grade now , 87..try the mid grade 89 octane..then maybe the hi one..if this doesnt work..id try a new fuel pump..this is all, of course if ur burning a bit lean at the higher rpms
right now i use 91 octane and mix with 100. as far as running lean i dont think it is one way to find out is check the spark plugs for white stuff. i just think i need a little valve adjustment
. but thanks for the help.

AHAHAH that was about the rookiest call ive heard..... it actualy was just a valve adj.. no more ticking it sounds perfect but i was scared i thought it was going to "blow up".... but no it didnt. =0)
If I've already gotten the valves adjusted, and I still hear the ticking...what would the next step be? I put some of the "valve medic" in it, and they're still tick tick ticking away. I'm guessing maybe injectors. What can I do to get them to stop, and is performance being hurt in any way or just an annoying sound?
