Valve Cover bolt??
A question I always forget to ask until now. I let these guys work on my car awhile back and one of my valve cover bolts the threads in the head are strippeed out somewhat. It doesnt leak any oil but I cant tighten it like it should be tightened and seems to work fine but it bothers me when I can remember it. What exactly can I do to fix this problem rethread it, or what.
mine had a similar problem, once u take off the valve cover u can replace one of the bolts i had too, it was like 10 bucks, and it screws right in, not a big deal at all.
You can get some stuff to make new threads. Can't remember what it's called, but JB Weld should work if you can't find it. What you'll do is this:
Drill out the threads
Fill hole with JB Weld or whatever
Drill new smaller hole
Tap new hole to accept the thread size on the valve cover bolt
Done. Drink beer
Nice and simple

Is the stuff that you cant think of named Heli Coil or somehting like that. Are you sure that the JB Weld will work. And forget the beer drink Jagermeister or however it is spelled.
Take one of your your good bolts to a hardware store and ask for a tap
that will match that bolt. Re-tap the threads. They could just need that.
Then use a new bolt in that hole, not the mucked up one you took out of it.
Should help.
