Default VAFC malfunction....PLEASE HELP

Ok so me and my friend were installing a vafc in his 2001 GSR and we wire up the vafc and everything is good to go. So we go on a test drive and the CEL goes on, and it would not let us rev pass 5k. So we run the code and its code 22(vtec malfunction). So we go back and check all the wires, every wire is to spec and none of them are loose. We reset the ecu and go on a test run. Same thing happens again. So this time we switched the actual vafc unit with the one I have in my car and connected it to the existing wiring in the GSR. We go on a test run and hit vtec numerous of times and it was perfect. No CELS at all with the other unit. Is there anyways of fixing the malfunctioning unit or has this happened to anyone esle. TIA

01 GSR has VTM signal wire.....hook up the VTM to the VAFC harness, then re-initialize the unit to run with pressure sensing vtec.

Im assuming that the car runs ok on the low cam side of things and the vtec may or may not work occasionally and once the CEL comes on the motor wont go into high cam?

the vtm wire is hooked up and yes the car runs perfect in low cams but as soon as u engage high cams the CEL will come right on and then the car will not rev past 5k at all so right now i reseted the ecu so the CEL will not come on right now and im just driving normal shifting at 3 k so that i wont throw it on. im still trying to figure it out thanks

i forgot what the harness is like on the VAFC..... damn!

there should be input and output for the vtec signal right? If you used male/female connectors, make sure that the connections to the wires are cool and that the connectors are fully connected. Make sure you have the input and output connected to the correct section of the wire.

Did you initialize the VAFC to use the pressure vtec also, or initialize the rest correctly while on that topic? that will cause the ecu to flip out bigtime! I had the VTM wire disconnected on my e-manage and my car would cross over into vtec at normal rpm (2500 for vtec-e) and then attempt to cross again later at like 4500... that was some funny ****.
