After VAFC install, Im throwing a CEL??
Did anyone else have this happen? The VAFC is wired correctly, I am positive about that. It is alol set correctly also, to stock specs until I get it tuned. I just installed it, and it runs fine, everything on it works, but now I am throwing a CEL!! I know that I should check the code, but I don't have time to do it right now. I was just wondering if any of you other VAFC users threw a CEL, or have an idea on which wire/connection may be the problem? Thanks!
Also, the RPMs on my VAFC are about 200 below my tach, Ive heard of this happening on other civics also, but which RPM reading is correct? And if the VAFC is correct, can I rev to 6800 by the VAFC, or by my tach? Thanks!

Which code are you throwing? Which car is it on? What motor is in the car? Which OBD are you running?

Yeah my CEL was on when i installed my v-afc. But after like a thousand miles it went off then i used the v-afc again and its back on. I just need to find time to clear the code.

the stock tach is off a litlte (and the VAFC is your correct RPM reading). As for the CEL, we can't help you until you give us some more information (see the second post).

Disconnect your negative battery terminal for like 10-15 seconds and then plug it back on and see if it goes away/stays away.

you may have all the wires connected properly but if they arent connected good it will cause a CEL also make sure you have the VTM wire hooked up.. go back over all your wiring and solder and tape everything.. those cheap crimps are crap!!

Re: After VAFC install, Im throwing a CEL?? (Hybrid95CivicEX)
Sorry guys, this is on a 97 Civic EX (D16y8), OBDII (Stock P2P ecu), and I have not checked the code yet. I will do it later tonight and get back to you guys. So, is it most likely the connections, or do you think I have other problems? I am worried because I am puttin in a Crower Stage 2 camshaft, valvesprings and retainers, and a new cam gear. Im just worried because I know that my car will run like crap after I put in the new cam, so I need this stuff to work right! Thanks guys, Ill get back to you soon!

I did what one of you guys told me, I removed the negative battery cable for 15 seconds and then replaced it. Car runs great! The only thing I did was change my VTEC crossover points, but besides that, this baby's staying stock until I get it tuned. THANKS GUYS!!!
