Default vafc help changing vtec point

I'm having trouble with my vafc. I can't seem to change the vtec engagement on my car. If I set it to whatever engagement point it still always engages at 5400. I checked all the wires and they all seem to be fine and still connected. Any kind of help would be find. Also I have a 98 ex d16y8 if that will help.

Thanks, i checked and my in and out, it was at 6 so I changed them to 8. I didn't get to drive the car yet, to much snow, so I don't know if that fixed the problem. Thanks for the help though. Peace

it's the line to the vtec solenoid, check it. and if that isnt it, check if there is any gunk or anything in there.
