V-tech seal/filter
I have a b16 that the v-tech oil seal/filter on the side of the engine where the whole v-tech assembly bolts to the head keeps riping on me at the top corners of the filter on both sides, I have gone through 3 seals/filters at $15.00 a pop. They rip almost the second that i start the car and then oil is all over the block and tranny. Has any one else had this problem, if so what is the fix? Thank you.
ITS VTEC
take a photo of the part your on about and post it, as your attempt at an explanation has me completely lost, theres no filter near the head, what is the vtec assembly (solenoid?)

yes it is the solenoid where it bolts to the head and there is a little screen in the rubber gasket. and it is not the valve cover or the cam seal you can physicaly see oil running out a this this place.

it is actually spelt and referred to around here as VTEC,
to HELP you i will suggest that you may be instaling the filter/seal the wrong way around...
and YES, they are very expensive bits of rubber and gauze...
t..
heres what I did....
I used a USDM gasket in a JDM solenoid. The USDM one is too big. Anyway..
Remove Vtec solenoid.
Clean the head where it mounts and the solenoid free of oil.
HONDA BOND a nice thin strip around the solenoid where it will meet the head. I went around the screen on the outside perimeter, but did not go around the middle part of the screen. (dont want to clog that screen with honda bond!)
Replace solenoid. I slowly tightened mine in a criss cross pattern to get the honda bond to seal evenly.
Dont drive it for atleast 24 hours. Let that honda bond seal right.
Mine leaked a tiny bit when I first started it back up, but has not leaked since. I've been running this way for about 600 miles, Vtec works like a champ.
oh yeah the part number is V-TEC solenoid valve filter O ring 15825-P08-005
good luck,

PIcking on people for mis-spelling is SO old. A polite correction is all thats needed. Especially in a Tech section.
I guess we can all rack up posts for picking on people or helping people. I choose the latter.
Peace

You do know that the screen fits inside a little slit that is in the gasket right? If you didn't and the screen is sitting on one side of the gasket, then its going to leak like a sieve.
