USDM Hondata prepped P28 CEL Problems
Hi, I'm running a USDM p28 with my Canadian 98 jrsc gsr and I'm throwing CEL 20 & 41. I pluged this ecu into my buddies obd1 gsr and it gives him the same code.
Is this a basemap problem? or a ecu socketing problem? This ecu is prepped for Hondata, however I'm not running Hondata. My ecu has a custom chip using Techtom.
I bought a Hondata prepped ecu because in order to run a chip the ecu has to be socketed anyways. Is there something that is done to a Hondata prepped ecu that isn't necessary for a normal chipped ecu?
Canadian ECU's I'm sure have ELD's. My friend whos a mechanic at Honda verified this. I'm not sure about obd1 ecu's but my 98 integra has one. He told me he's replaced 2 fuseboxes as a result of code 20.
My 92-95, 96-99 Civic and 98-00 Teg Helms disagress with you.
Question then: How many wires do you have hanging off of the alternator connector - 3 or 4?

Yes, I thought so too, the Helms has a (USA) beside it.. but, he says any honda technician will tell you our cars have it .. My buddies a senior technician there.. I don't want to doubt him because he definately knows his ****.. I'm not saying that he knows it all.. but when I told him CEL 20.. he immediately said .. ELD.. Electrical Load Detector.. so I knew he knows about them.
After asking him if our cars has them he says yes.. civics, accords, and integras have ELDs. He didn't go into saying which specific models..
