Default uberdata questions on timing, launch control, vtec engagment?????????

ok some questions but first off let me tell you whats happened. i had my timing set at 18 btc with just my stock p30 ecu. i just have and intake and 2.5" mandrel exhaust. i got my hardware in the mail and 4 blank chips today so i found someone with a stock b16a who had some mods like IHE. so i looked over the map and everything looked ok. so i popped the chip in and i shot my light at the crank. now the timing was set at about 13 degrees btc. obviously the chip had retarded my timing so (question 1) should i go back and mechaninally turn the dizzy to advance it once again after i jump those two wires under the dash or will this mess up uberdata?

2. vtec is set at rpm disengauge: 5502
rpm engauge:5564
can i set this to like 4502 and 4564

3. it says my full throttle launch is at 4000rpm but its not working in my car? i dont know how it work but i had it in 1st gear and clutch in and revved the motor to 5 and nothing happened. should it stop at 4000 and stay there?

manually advance the distributor until the timing mark lines up to whatever you have your base timing set on the ignition maps.

you need to set you VTEC dissengage about 200-300rpm lower than the engage. if you dont it will bounce in and out of VTEC. especially in 3'rd gear and up.

as for the FTL......it should work.....make sure you dont have the "AC switch" checked or its expecting you to flick the AC switch to enable it.....

hope that helps.

thanks man, so what would be a good spot to set the vtec at? i found out what it was doing with the launch. i would make the changes to ftl and then hit save and there was an error that popped up saying something about failing to assemble ftl.asm. this can damange the ecu????

thanks

you get that error when saving the file because your not saving it into the same directory that UD is installed to.

put your bin file in the same directory where you have UD installed and you should be good to go.

setting the VTEC point all depends on the engine/head/cams etc.....good place to start would be 5000rpm.......set the dissengage to around 4700rpm and give it a shot..........

remember if you lower your VTEC engage you should also lower the VTEC dissengage.

good luck.

thanks, now about this timing? it looks like with idle its set at 13 btc when i point the gun at the crank. is this only at idle and then once i have some load on the motor it will go up to like 18 btc? so i should not change the timing manually with the dizzy because its programmed into the comp? i ran my stock ecu at 13 and it sucked so bad so thats why i advanced it to 18. i read that was safe if youve got an intake and exhaust and using 93 octane. let me know
