Type R Valvetrain

Can you put a type R valvetrain on a ls engine? or for a better question, can you put a vtec valvetrain on a non-vtec engine?

Well I am not too sure, most everyone will jump in a usually say no, but if you go check out http://www.g2ic.com there is a guy using b16 springs in his ls motor.
