Default type r distributor??

i have a gsr block with a jdm itr head. i keep getting reacurring code 4's (crank position sensor). should i ditch my gsr dizzy for a type r dizzy or are they basically the same?

The code you are getting has nothing to do with the distributor. It is the crank sensor code. What ecu are you running? Maybe the ecu is looking for a crank sensor and maybe your engine does not have one. *shrug*

thats funny because the haynes says if the sensor is bad then change the dizzy. plus its locatewd inside the dizzy. hmm.

Really? I was thinking it is the sensor on the oil pump. I am running an ITR oil pump on my setup and there is a sensor on the oil pump. I was ASSuming that this was the crank position sensor. Hmmm....

the sensor is inside the distributor. and when you get this, you inevitably have to replace the whole thing.

the oil pump sensor is something else.

The gs-r distributor would be fine to use. But if the crank angle sensor is bad then it is bad. Change it.

i changed out the dizzy. no problems now. thx for all feedback. btw its a b16 dizzy.
