Default Two vtec engagements in less than a second?

When I hit vtec (4500) sometimes the vtec will sound like it engages twice within less than a second apart???

Also, I could be driving in 5th gear and it seems like there is a lil troube with vtec when engaging, some sputtering.

I am running a vision chipped p28 brain for my 11.6 ls/vtec. Fuel pressure is at 44psi at idle.

Again, not all the time.

if vtec is hesitating, then your sol. might be going bad. how's your oil level/pressure?

I agree, the solenoid sounds like the culprit and the primary reason for their failure is lack of oil pressure.

Oil is always a lil past the second mark. Vtec always engages, it's just that sometimes it hesitates. The silinoid is leaking, could that affect it? I tried to seal it with copper seal and it still leaks.

I'm screwd as far as taking the silinoid off to reseal because I over torqued a bolt and snapped it.

mine does the same thing. im thinking its because i have a huge dip in my powerband just before vtec.

that might be too early of a vtec engagement point. get a vtec controller, and try setting it a little later like at 5000 or 5500.
