will a stock internal LS hold up with a basic, 7 psi turbo kit? or will it be a lemon and cause lots of headaches if used as a daily driver? those of you with turbo integras, what are your opinions and experiences? also, how shitty is the gas mileage?

the compression is 150-151-152-148 and leakdown is 10-15%, so my engine is just about perfect running condition. i just want to know if i go turbo and upgrade the fuel/air delivery systems and get it tuned, if i can expect very good reliability still.
as long as your tuning is on key and your not boosting at every redlight i see no reason for it to not be fine for daily driving, and also try not to be dumb with the boost controller
..and yeah have fun being boosted

keep up on maintaining stuff, dont dog your car, get it tuned well and you wont have a problem. i put close to 10,000 miles on my ls, though not daily driven, thats close to the mileage one would normall drive in a year

thats good to hear, because i have the itch ot be faster; 140 bhp just isnt cutting it
i originally planned on getting converted to lsvtec, using mostly type r internals, but i would have to spend over $2000 on a reliable build to achieve maybe 200 bhp. or i could have a buddy of mine install a turbo kit for less than that and have 200 whp and twice as much torque. after owning a turbo fwd dsm, which sadly was a piece of ****, i finally realized that turbo owns all motor.

i plan on driving it the way i do now; driving it like a normal, sane person and getting great mpg, with spurts of spirited driving once in awhile
. i drive about 10,000 miles a year also, and i keep good care of my teg.

yeah, i see so many people with swaps or turbos that insist on beating the **** out of their cars all the time. im a pretty conservative driver; i dont like dealing with tickets/replacing tires etc. im sure ill be fine with 7 psi; ive seen what too much boost and too little fuel/not strong enough internals can do to an engine when its not built to handle excessive amounts of boost.
is a better clutch necessary? can i get away with driving conservatively, or will my stock clutch still burn up like crazy due to twice as much torque transmission?

I've been LS Turbo for about almost 2 yrs now. I'm making some ok power 286/256, the most important thing is the tuning and to make sure that you do the normal maintance. Just don't GO CHEAP on the parts, you get what you pay for.
