Default ls turbo setup

i did a search and didnt realli come up with what i was looking for.
perhaps you all would be able to answer my fairly simple question.
whats the best setup for a ls turbo?
im sure its been asked before but i jus couldnt find it.
im still in the decision between all motor gsr and ls turbo and i need some more info to make a better decesion.
while i do want the car to be fast and put up good times, i still need it to be a daily driver.
thanx for all the help

If you haven't built your LS block, then you can still run a turbo setup to be a daily driver. In fact, most kits available for the LS run boost around 8 or 9 psi unless you play with the settings. Tuned properly and done properly, you can daily drive a stock LS block with a turbo at about 9 or 10 psi max, most recommend about 6-8 psi. That gives about 200whp and good reliability. Unless you research the heck out of it, a custom turbo setup usually isn't a good idea if you can afford better. Buy a turbo kit, like a Drag kit or RevHard kit, and run those. Tune properly with a FPR and SAFC and you're set to go for a while.

Try searching in the Forced Induction forum for custom turbo setups with LS to give you a better idea if you want to go that route. I'm trying to piece together my custom turbo setup, my first turbo ever, on my LS. It's taken almost 6 or 7 months already to find the parts I need, and it's cost over $1000 with no results yet. The only reason I'm doing this is because of budget restraints (poor college student). If you can afford more, buy a kit new or used anywhere from $1.8-$3k.

Hope that helps!

ls turbo is nice. but turbo requires a lot of maintainense. meaning u should know every little details about the turbo and ur car. i have 95 ls too, and was thinking about a lot of options. i ended up with either turbo or h22a swap. but i came up with dif. answer which is all motor. if you have time, go with all motor. i personally think turbo is good for the racing, but for daily driving, i think all motor is the way. hope this helped ^^

The it's not just about pressure, but about flow and pressure. In any case, you're right.. but you can account for altitude differences.. you can boost 9-10 lbs/sq-in at sea level w/ no problems (assuming you have a good fuel management system) but up here in albuquerque.. you can run 12 lbs of boost w/ no problems due to our crappy atmosphere.
