Default Tuning Programs

I'm new to the Honda tuning game, so bear with me.

I've looked at Hondata and from what I understand...you send your ecu to them, they add the chip in, and you get the tuning software (S300)...correct?

I've also started looking at Crome (never really heard anything good or bad about them, so comments are good), and on their website it seems that you just download their software, but where do you get the chip put in?
