Sorry to get everyones panties in a twist, that is not what this forum is about...
so that is why n00bs like you should keep their opinionated 'strong comments' to themselves,

or prepare to back them up.

simple.

im sure you wont do it again though will you...?

hears my 2 cents. why should i buy hondata for like 400 and then have to drive 5hr just to get it tuned when i add more things to my car. thats gas money and the chance that my car might explode on the 5hr trip. i bought a used vafc for 250shipped. i installed it for free and i tuned it for free. for the cost of hondata i bought my vafc and a wide band o2 sensor with computer and a plam to datalog. The only reason the vafc will screw up your motor is if u can't tune. or one day decide to go alittle overboard with boost or nitros and blow it up becaue of that. Why drive to a shop that could be 5hrs away, pay someone to tune it everytime you add something, when for the same price u can datalog your exact air/fuel ratio and tune it at yourhouse.

I was wondering who was running a fmu and Vafc that making 400+ hp and running stock injectors?? beacuse a honda ecu will not support an injector over 310cc's and without an seperate injector contoller how are you guys making 550 hp?
if a honda ecu won;t suport over 310cc injectors than thats prolly why they are using the vafc. think befor u speak.

oh and don't get me wronge hondata is good but to expencive and no one deals around me

I think that your maturity level is clear from your statement as well I am afraid to say. Calling someone a n00b shouldn't be a judgement based purely on their post count, it should be something based on the content of their posts.

Now true, plenty of people on this thread may not have agreed with exactly what he was saying, but he did make some good points as well has having some actual factual and experience based data upon which everything was based.

n00bs say stupid things like "yeah my stock ex has an exhaust and I run 12's all day" or "you think if I run a 150 shot in my dx hatch I can beat my buddy who runs a 100 in his 4cyl accord wagon?"

I would think next time before you jump to critisize others and call them names which are clearly unfitting.

what good points did rhd-da6 make?

what "actual factual and experienced based data" ARE you talkin about?!?!

n00bs say stupid stuff like:

yeah it makes cool noises when you turn on your car but wait until you start eating rod bearings.
ate who's rod bearings?

PROVE it was from the V-AFC and ill retract my n00b call,

tinkerbell the prob that the VAFC has had with rod bearings is very rare. We had a customer that literally went though 4 built and professionally tuned motors. The prob as Apexi's tech discribed is a "extremely rare occurance" where input and output settings and or functions on the vafc are not correctly reading the vtec crossover point for engagement, and in return engaging vtec at a point where oil pressure or oil tempature is not at a optimal level to correctly lubercate areas of the motor. In this case vtec would kick in at to low of an rpm also when the car was cold. And with trouble shooting everytime the vtec crossover point was checked and said something completely differn't that when vtec was really engaging. Plus you couldn't hear the vtec engaging at that low of an rpm, we finally we where able to find that vtec was engauging at 2100 rpm and sometimes lower. We used a digital multimeter at the vtec selinoid to find the engaugement point.

There are many people on this forum that know what they are talking about, yet with any forum things can be so hard to express in words and literally take hours to type. I have always been open to other opinions and that in return alows all of use to learn as a whole. And it is also just as obvious that people tend to think they are correct and will argue an opinion to the death. Everyone in this post is so ready to flame rhd-da6 for being so strongly against the VAFC, yet you people turn around and do the exact same thing you are pissed off at him about. Everyone needs to relax including rhd-da6 and bring this thread back to a normal learning experience. And just because someone is trial user doesn't exactly mean they have no brain or knowledge about hondas, just that they found a place to give and recieve knowledge free of charge, and just was late finding it.

just my 2 cents

Peace

I think that a lot of the time on here we forget what the whole point of honda-tech really is. We spend so much time trying to prove that we are right or that we know more than someone else does, that we forget that it isn't about who is right and who is wrong. It is all about simply getting what is right out there for everyone to learn. Learning is why we are all here. Two heads are better than one, and thousands upon thousands of heads is a really good thing.

Radical statements need to be backed up with factual information, substantial factual information. Just becuase almost everyone has a certain opinion does not make that opinion correct, they can easily all be wrong.

tinkerbell the prob that the VAFC has had with rod bearings is very rare. We used a digital multimeter at the vtec selinoid to find the engaugement point.
The way that the VAFC changes the VTEC crossover point is potentially dangerous if the unit happens to be faulty, such was the case in this example. By moving the VTEC engagement point outside of the area where sufficient oil-pressure is available, parts of the motor were left unlubricated. That, clearly, is a bad thing. With motors costing thousands of dollars, using a VAFC (a tool with the potential to have such a problem) clearly isn't worth it for Sammy (RHD-DA6). He would rather go with something that is more stable. That is his opinion. His opinion is based on actual facts and statements from Apex-I, so for those who chose to discount his statements due to a lack of factual information, here is the proof you wanted.

So from now on, instead of calling someone an idiot based on their comment, ask them why they feel that way first. If they say something n00bish like "becuase I said so" or some other bullshit answer, then feel free to :flame: away. Just don't jump to that conclusion based on an aggressive statement.

When you assume you make an *** out of u and me.

yeah, so 58 posts later we get some half assed reason for these guys dislike (or loathing) of VAFC.

think what you like mr. clockwork.

but on honda-tech that is really poor form...

as he says
The prob as Apexi's tech discribed is a "extremely rare occurance"
wow! proof enough to black mark Apexi for life and discredit it...

NOT!

as i say, think what you like mr. clockwork, but that is hardly a viable reason to dislike VAFC...

we get dyno time from jeff @ IB for around $100/hr sometimes less sometimes more just depending on what is needed. All the people at are spending $200+ and hour are one of two things
1. stuck in an area without many qualified tuners
2. or stupid

as far as the gtech, I'm sure you could get it to work, but it won't really show you how the car runs. Your car may get faster, but if you lean a/f ratio out, you could run into some serious problems. Just be careful with all settings on the vafc, if you have any questions call apexi, their tech support has always been good to us.

peace
