Tuning a Apexi VAFC
Take it to a dyno. You can't just set it at something and hope it works. It's all guesses unless you actually run it and modify the A/F curve according to what the dyno's O2 says.

VAFC is a waste of money. you make no power with them. if you want your motor to last sell it.
Tuned vs untuned with just VAFC tuning.
Basically what you do is go to a dyno. Get them to hook up an AF monitor. Make a few baseline runs to see if your car is running rich or lean. They will show you an AF ratio chart. You want to shoot for around the 13-13.5 range usually. If the car is running rich/lean at a certain rpm go into your wide throttle settings and add or subtract fuel as needed. You might have to mess around with your fuel setting points to be more precise. Don't worry about your partial throttle settings on the dyno.
For VTEC what I did was raise it up pretty high on my first runs to see where the low cams started to drop of. The point that they started to drop off is where I moved my VTEC to. I actually could still lower mine a good bit by the graph but I only had 1hr to mess around and learn the thing. Its very simple to use if you just set down and take the time to mess around.

Was the 7whp really worth the $200+ you spent on the VAFC?

But who cares about making over 300whp and 200ft lbs or torque with a afc.

Don't just look at peak numbers. I gained 25whp in the mid range. Picked up power everywhere and held on to an extra 7-10whp past peak. Yes its worth it on a mild setup IMO.

ActiveAero made 25whp and 32tq at 5750rpm thats a HUGE difference in drivability. not bad for 200-400 peice IMO it takes skill to make those gains...
kudos man

better than the 2whp that people gain from their $400 exhausts!!!

lol so true!
and that's if their even lucky enough to produce that much. this pertain to most street cars which I believe are pretty much mildly tuned.
What kind of nonsense is this...It doesn't hurt your car whatsoever...It acutally makes sure that you aren't running to lean or rich..Don't talk trash when you have nothing to back it up....."you're an idiot"

heres how i feel about a the vafc. yeah it makes cool noises when you turn on your car but wait until you start eating rod bearings. call apex and ask them about this problem. i have done it already and 4 motors later, vafc is in the trash. try hondata or any other stand alone unit. is 300 dollars worth the motors time and money you put into them. down with the vafc.
