tuning with afc, does it mess with ur timing?
when u use an afc to tune any kind of setup, does it mess with the engine timing when u take fuel off and add fuel on. cause it uses the map sensors voltage to control the fuel. and the map sensors voltage changes as the vaccume in the engine changes. i dont know, someone set me straight on this please. thanks

uh, yes it does. An AFC or VAFC alter the signal from the map sensor. Well guys the ecu looks to the map sensor to monitor engine load. to make a long story short, the ecu takes that value and looks up the best fuel and ignition map for that load point. So YES it does alter timing.
yes your right but it doesn't help (retard) timing for a turbo car. Are the ignition maps 100% tied to the fuel maps or are there other inputs that affect timing independent of MAP voltage, like TPS or rpm?

Yes, timing is direcly tied to fuel map. TPS, MAP, TDC, RPM alter any one of these and youll change both fuel and timing. unless you go to a stand alone ECU or if you could some how lock out your timing like the old muscle car guys used to...

yes it does because ecu map loads (which is the input that the VAFC changes) are also timed to ECU ign timing maps not just fuel maps.
