Default does the afc II really advance timing

i have a afc but i have not installed it yet i was using the very helpful search function that is located in the upper right hand corner and i read that the afc will advance ignition and cause detonation but then i heard so many people saying that it has done wonders so assuming it is hooked up correctly will it advance the ignition or cause detonation and would it be a good idea to use with the uberchip?
thanks

Wrong.

Do a search, I'm sick of explaining this.

The afc hack does per say advance the timing, but it alters the way the ecu reads the map sensor. When the engine is seeing 8psi, its saying that the computer is at wot/atmospheric conditions or 0psi/0 vacuum. The ecu reads the corresponding timing value which is 30-32 degrees advance, when the engine should really be seeing 26-27 degrees total advance. It doesnt advance the timing, it inhibits the ecu from pulling back the timing since it thinks the engine is operating in atmospheric conditions/0 vacuum.

boosted hybrid is correct about NA WOT final timing and ideal timing at the theoretical boost level, 8 psi, he is talking about.

I'm talking about how the Honda ECU thinks you are on (in boosted hybrid's terminology) part throttle spark plateau in the lower boost figures... 38-44 degrees depending on your flavor of ECU.

well krud...

I was under the impression that it was a FUEL ONLY computer, an did not touch timing. Which, in a way is true, but from what you guys are saying, thats exactly the problem, it doesnt let the ECU retard it.. right?

AFC tweaks MAP sensor signal.

Honduh ECU fuel/ignition maps are in RPM vs MAP table form. So, you alter fuel, you alter ignition.

It doesn't matter so much in a NA ride where the fuel is very close and you only need to alter a few % to get fuel in line... with ignition curve deflection of less than a degree... but when you start slicing huge chunks off the MAP signal the ignition deflection gets pretty substantial.
