Default Trunk release on Del Sol

When operating the interior trunk release, or opening the trunk with the key from outside, the trunk lid does not "pop" open. both release and key unlock the trunk but you must manually lift the lid.

kind od a pain to put down what ever is in your hands so one hand can turn the key while the other hand lifts the lid, or using the interior release have someone waiting at the rear to lift the lid as you hold the release up

Is this the way it was designed? is there a way to make it "pop" open?

No its not supposed to pop all the way up but you need to clean your trunk latch.

You will still obviously have to lift the trunk, but you should be able to pull the handle inside or turn the key (and remove the key) THEN lift the trunk lid. It sounds to me like you're having to pull it open while holding the lock?

You may need to take the plastics around the back of the trunk off to do it properly.

My winter beater just did the same thing, except when it stuck it wouldn't let the trunk close again either.

Yep, I have to hold the key turned and lift the lid at the same time. Just turning and removing the key leaves it locked. Same way with the interior release, as long as it's held up the lid will open, if you let it go the trunk remains locked.

I'll give it a good cleaning and see how it goes
