over the weekend i replaced my 1st/2nd syncro set. all went well, but now im trying to get the tranny housing back on, and somethings not lining up.



the gap between the tranny housing and the clutch housing is the same all the way around, but i cant get it down any further. the snap ring on the counter shaft isnt close enough, so thats not the problem. i think it is the top of the shift forks. where they go into the housing. anyone done this? suggestions?

 

Try putting it in second gear......it should fall.

 

how do i put it in second gear with the trans out?

 

Stick a screwdriver or something in the hole on the shaft, turn it left, and pull.

did you make sure to line up the tab for the reverse synchro into the tranny case? And make sure the tabs faces down toward the bell housing?
