OK heres what happened. As of late my car has been a little difficult shifting in the mornings, with it being cold I guess. In the afternoons it's a lot easier getting into gears. Well not no more. Yesterday I left home and shifting from 1st to 2nd I heard/felt a big pop. Assuming I either misshifted or it popped out of gear, I went back to neutral and back again to 2nd. Nothing happened except for the rpm's just reving up and up. So I coasted to a parking lot and let go of the clutch out of gear and the tranny made a loud grinding,whirling, squealing noise. Made the same noise in 1st and reverse also BUT the tranny goes into every gear with no problems now. . Finally get the car home and removed the tranny to find that the clutch is fine, not shattered just a little worn but not too bad for a 4 puck with heavy duty pressure plate, and throw out bearing is fine. So I turn to the tranny and take that apart. I find from what it looks to me is all the teeth on the gears are fine , but the bad thing is I found 2 shiny little ball bearings just lying in around just chillin and drinkin "s.. AAAGGGGHHHHHHHH..So what do I do?????? Gears are fine, no clue where these bearings come from, no metal shavings anywhere, and a poor college student.

 

Those ***** must be from a bearing of some sort; look at the shafts. One of my other trannies had the bearing that sat on top of the countershaft break into pieces. I'd first get a Helm's (helminc.com) if ya don't got one yet--then check everything compared to the Helm's pics.
