Default tranny problem...

so i blew an axle seal and slowly been losing tranny fluid (10w30 motor oil) in my 91 integra ls...anyways...i was at a buddies house for a few hours, and get in it and drive...well in 5th gear, at 3400 rpm's the tranny would kick me out of gear...and i dont know why...would not having fluid do this? never happened b4....

Put the synchromesh in, and 5th gear stays in gear now Id still like to know what causes that to happen other than "no fluid"
