Default Tranny Guru's - Question

Not sure how this happened, but after putting the tranny back together from a countershaft failure last fall and placing the case on the trannmission...I noticed it wasn't falling into place, had a 1/4" gap around..normally it falls into place, or with the help of a slight tap. (2nd rebuld after lsd install 2 yrs ago).

After careful inspection, I noticed the C clip/snap ring thingy that the countershaft bearing pops into on the trans casing was damaged. The inner lining that the ring lays in is all boogered up. I can order another c-clip snap ring whatever it's called, but the case is damaged on the inside...

Looks like unless I get another trans case 1/2 I won't be able to put the tranny back together.

How important is this little clip thing? It's the one that slides around the top of the bearing, bolt/top side of the countershaft.

Thanks in advance.

Well I got another snap ring, gonna dremel the area where it goes, smooth it out a tad...get it back together..
