anyone know of legit places to pick up a replacement tranny for a 88 hatch std? looking for something in the so cal area preferably to pick up myself save some money on shipping? plz guys help me out.. thnx

Pretty much any self-service type wrecking yard is typically littered with 1988-1991 Civics these days. And ANY transmission you find is a better choice than the four speed that you have now. Just keep in mind that 1988 Civics have a unique 21 spline input shaft. And if you DON'T pick up a 1988, you will find yourself having to change things like clutch disks and flywheels to make it work.
