Timming problem I think.
I did a motor swap. I have a d16z6 block on a d16y8 head because I messed up my other block. I changed out the timing belt and head gasket. When I crank it, all I get is some pop like its wants to fire but never turns over. I think it has to do with timing. I checked fuel and spark, which I'm getting both. I also to a pic of how I setup the order of the spark plug wires to the distributer. My manual is for a d16z6 and not a d16y8 so I'm not sure if have them in order. Is there anyway to tell if my timing belt is on correctly? Thanks for the help

Top dead center #1 piston (take #1 spark plug out, crank motor and feel when it starts to make compression then stop) ..take valve cover off and distributor cap off...make sure everything is in the correct position...dist rotor pointing to #1 position on cap, both intake and exhaust valves in the closed position on the cam.
If you can't get a feel for the piston tdc, you can just go by where the distributor is pointing to #1 position on cap. It makes it easier if you take all the spark plugs out.
