is it safe to advance your ignition timing and advance your cam timing?

yes, it can be done....but it is prefered to dyno tune. is this for a SOHC Vtec or DOHC motor?

sohc vtec, i was wondering cause i tried to set the ignitiong timing back to stock, the red mark, and i when i do it, the engine gets hella loud. the red mark is stock timing right? man i need to ge the car dialed in on the dyno, but after i get the stupid check engine light off.

your cam gear could be off, be sure to check both marks on the gear and the crank to make sure they are both TDC.

hmm....how can the cam gear be messed up? how can i check to see that its right? i had it installed by a professional. sorry i dont really know much abou this stuff

If i've advance the cam gear do i have to advance ign timing, as i know the IN cams is connect to distributor>

just cuz they were a pro don't mean crap. I've had to help fix quite a few swaps that the local "pros" did.

Like wiring up a ZC into a CRX Si. About 8 wires at the ECU were hacked. WTF?

with SOHC's (all I work on) if you advance the cam you must RETARD the ignition timing. As you advance the cam, you also advance the ignition timing.

For every 1 deg you advance the cam timing, you must retard the ignition timing 2 deg.
