Default timing off by half a tooth...

my timing is off by half a tooth. when i dropped my motor in, it was perfect. the break in period must have affected it. i have adjustable cam gears. moving the gear back 2 degrees looks like a perfect fit. i was curious if that would solve my timing problem. or would i need to take the belt off and move the cam itself.
thanx

Can you explain how the belt is off by 1/2 a tooth? last time I checked the belt can only be put on the gears with whole teeth.

Don't just start moving things to make it "look" like it is lined up. Remove the belt and set to TDC and follow the procedure for a new timing belt installation. Be sure to check everything with a timing light when done.
Your cam gears are most likely not giving you true indexing marks. GL

when checking timing.. i have the gun on 0 degree then it is supposed to line up at the white single mark right.. and the 3 marks together are 14 deg, 16deg , 18deg .
